David Davies David Davies is Sub Organist and Director of the Cathedral Girls’ Choir. Born in 1973 he was educated as a Sixth Form Scholar at Eton College, and was Organ Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford. He studied the organ with John Wellingham and Nicolas Kynaston, and was appointed Assistant Organist at St. Asaph Cathedral in 1995. In 1999 he embarked on the M.Mus. course in organ performance at Yale University, where he studied with Professor Thomas Murray and Dr. Martin Jean. During this time he was Organ Scholar at Christ Church, New Haven, CT where he worked with Robert Lehman. He lived in the USA until 2003, having latterly been Assistant Organist at St. Philip’s Cathedral, Atlanta, GA, and Director of Atlanta Schola Cantorum. David maintains a schedule of musical activity within the Diocese of Guildford, working closely with the Guildford Area RSCM, and with the Surrey Organists’ Association. He teaches organ at the University of Surrey.
