Helping the Cathedral
Guildford Cathedral is more than a beautiful building. It is a thriving, welcoming community that invites you to become involved and help ensure its future.
Music
Music is at the heart of all cathedral worship and Guildford is justly proud of its reputation. To safeguard its wonderful choral tradition, in 2003 the Cathedral set up The Guildford Cathedral Music Development Foundation.
Fabric
Under the guidance of the Lay Administrator, Commodore Tony Lyddon, the Cathedral has a planned programme of maintenance and restoration. Unlike many older cathedrals Guildford doesn't have endowments so we rely on the generosity of individuals especially the Brick Givers and Charitable Trusts. You can find out more about past achievements and current projects.
The Friends
The Friends of Guildford Cathedral are an important part of the cathedral community. They not only raise funds but also organise interesting talks and events for their members. New members are always welcome. Find out more about The Friends.
Cathedral Links
The Cathedral is delighted that it has 160 people called Cathedral Links across the Diocese. They are important in keeping us in touch with what is happening in their churches and informing their congregations about exhibitions, concerts and events at the Cathedral.
Volunteers
Our volunteers are a vital part of the day to day running of the Cathedral. We always welcome new guides, gift shop and book shop volunteers. If you have a few hours a week to spare then find out how you can get involved!
Legacies
Gifts in wills have enabled the Cathedral to endow choristers, complete special projects and continue its ministry as the Mother Church of the Diocese. Advice is available on how to remember the Cathedral in your will.
