The Friends of Guildford Cathedral
The Friends of Guildford Cathedral was founded in 1968 with the aim of bringing together all those who love the Cathedral and wish to support its work.
By becoming a Friend you will not only help to ensure that the building is preserved and enhanced for future generations, but will have the opportunity to take part in social activities, outings and an annual pilgrimage, usually overseas.

Friends' Pilgrimage 15-22 September 2011
Orthodox Monasteries and Churches of Finnish and Russian Karelia and St Petersburg with Pax Travel Ltd, led by The Very Revd Victor Stock, Dean of Guildford
This tour will take us through the eastern most part of Finland, the mystical region of Karelia, a land of vast forests and lakes, where the Orthodox Church still maintains a strong presence. Communal life plays an important role in the Orthodox Church, with an emphasis placed on hospitality and philanthropy. We will experience this hospitality on our visits to Orthodox monasteries and communities in Karelia, as well as being able to see exquisite icons and other priceless works of art, some of them rescued from Valamo Monastery in Russia. We will enjoy the renowned Karelian cuisine and will finally be able to experience the sophistication and charm of St Petersburg.
This should be an exciting and fascinating trip to a region and culture out of the ordinary and off the usual tourist trail, travelling by planes and boats and trains, ending with a full day in the glories of St Petersburg. It will be enhanced by the knowledge and enthusiasm of other branches of the Christian church, and art, of the Dean.
