Opportunities for Volunteers
The Cathedral Community benefits greatly by the hard work and contribution given by its volunteers. People volunteer for many reasons - to serve their Cathedral and "give something back" or because of a deep appreciation of the building and what it represents or to meet people.
Volunteer roles are wide ranging and include:
- Welcoming and guiding visitors
- Stewarding at services and events
- Serving at services
- Assisting in our bookshop or giftshop
- Helping with school workshops
- Flower arranging
- Bell ringing
- Singing in the Voluntary Choir
- Honorary virgers
We have roles to suit whatever skills you may have! We have created a register of time and talents which we refer to in order to match volunteers to specific needs of the Cathedral. The register does not obligate volunteers to anything but it will help us identify Cathedral activities and whose participation could best assist the Cathedral. The information on the register is kept in confidence and will not be made available to third parties. We can at your request amend or remove this information at any time - to do this please contact the Cathedral office.
Many volunteer groups hold their own social activities and the Cathedral invites all its volunteers to an annual tea party to say a big "thank you" for all their hard work.
