News: Jonathan Frost to be Bishop of Southampton

It was announced at 7.30 on Friday 30 July that The Revd Canon Jonathan
Frost
is to become Bishop of Southampton.

I am very happy indeed, as I know will be the whole of the Diocese of Guildford, to hear the announcement that Canon Jonathan Frost is to be the new Bishop of Southampton.

Diocese, Cathedral and University will miss Jonathan hugely but we wish him God speed in the next phase of his ministry. We also wish his family well as they move not too far away from Surrey!

Please hold Jonathan in your prayers at this time and especially as he comes towards his Episcopal Ordination which will be in St Paul’s Cathedral on St Andrew’s Day, Tuesday 30 November and in which I shall be participating.

Bishop Christoper

A Residentiary Canon of Guildford Cathedral for the last eight years alongside his work as Chaplain to Surrey University, Jonathan’s wide experience of ministry includes being Rector of Ash, Police Chaplaincy work before coming to Guildford Diocese, and significant endeavour in the field of Interfaith relations. Another side to his very considerable contribution to diocesan life is as a sportsman where his presence on the cricket field will be sorely missed by his colleagues.

The Dean preached a sermon on the subject in the Cathedral on 1 August. Please click here to read the text.
