News: Coffee concert with Colmore Brass

We are delighted to welcome Colmore Brass to perform at our October coffee concert to be held in the Marquee at Guildford Cathedral on Thursday 20 October, with free coffee served from 10.30am, the informal concert commences at 11.15am.

Award winning Colmore Brass was formed in 2014, consisting of current and former students at Birmingham Conservatoire. They receive support and coaching from Chris Houlding, Andy Stone-Fewings and Graham Sibley whilst at the Conservatoire.

In 2015 they were the winners of the Bernard Brown Brass Ensemble Prize and finalists in the Andrew Downes prize. Within the conservatoire, they have been finalists in the Sylvia Cleaver chamber ensemble competition in 2016. In addition to these, Colmore Brass have recently become finalists in the Jan-Koetsier Brass Quintet competition which will take place in Munich in November.

The group enjoy a range of quintet music, from classical to popular and have performed regularly around the Midlands area. Members of the group have played alongside the Royal Shakespeare Company, CBSO, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera, Superbrass and BBC Symphony.   They are now looking forward to playing in the South of England for you at  Guildford Cathedral.
