News: Summer Celebration at the Cathedral: Saturday 8 July

A fun packed activity day to celebrate the approaching completion of the major improvement works at Guildford Cathedral.  Come and see how the building has been transformed and how this was achieved.  With free family crafting fun, free kite making workshop and live music from the Royal School of Military Music. Discover new specialist trails and tours for all ages, treasure hunts and other activities.

The new Cathedral interpretation room will be open with special exhibitions tracing the story of The People’s Cathedral.

Sign up on the day for unique free tunnel tours giving you the opportunity to explore underneath the length of the Nave accompanied by the Cathedral Architect, John Bailey.  No pushchairs are allowed on this trail and all children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult over 18 years.  Maximum group sizes apply so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Free talks will take place in the Chapter House including a range of subjects from art and architecture, to bell ringing and flower arranging.  We are delighted to announce that Juliet Dunmur, grand-daughter of Sir Edward and Lady Maufe, will be giving a short talk as part of the programme.

There will be a celebratory peal of bells from the tower in the morning, with the opportunity to take a pre-bookable tower tour (only £6 per person over the age of 8 years only, limited availability, conditions apply) in the afternoon.  Free admission to this celebratory event, do bring a picnic to enjoy in our wonderful grounds with amazing views over the town!

Cathedral, shop and refectory open daily throughout the year, all welcome.

This event is part of the Guildford Summer Festival.  All are welcome.
