Kan Kan Collective Standing In The Light

24 May - 21 June 2018

Eighteen visual artists and alumnae from UCA Farnham are set to open the vibrant exhibition, Standing in the Light, here at Guildford Cathedral on Thursday 24 May.

The group, known as the KanKan Collective, has specialisms in large-scale installations using sculpture, light and sound. The exhibition, which is set to run until Wednesday 20 June, features miniature to large-scale works in sculpture, glass, installations, paintings, textiles, photography and poetry.

Mary Branson, Artist in Residence at the Houses of Parliament and a UCA Farnham alumna, will open the exhibition at its launch event at 6.30pm on Thursday 24 May. She said: “I’m delighted to open Standing in the Light.KanKan’s work is exciting, diverse and an illuminating mix of ideas and influences that respond to the light-filled space of the cathedral.”

In addition to continuing their own creative paths, the KanKan Collective regularly exhibits together in London and the South East, to both critical and popular acclaim.

This year, UCA is celebrating 150 years of providing creative education in Surrey and Kent. UCA is the leading specialist university for the creative industries in the Guardian University Guide, and was named a top 30 UK university in the THE Table of Tables 2018.
