News: Big Draw Event

Guildford Cathedral with Watts Gallery 28-30 October 2008

"Friendly atmosphere", "Welcoming" "A great success" " Lovely location to do some drawing" "My 2 year old loves the cathedral" These were some of the comments received when Guildford Cathedral played host to a Big Draw event during half term this October. The Big Draw is organised by The Campaign For Drawing and is a nationwide event where everyone can join in, using drawing to engage with the past, present and future.

We were lucky to be able to work with the Watts Gallery on this event this year and with Sandy Curry, (The Fenton Arts Artist in Residence at the Gallery 2006-7). Sandy took as the theme of the workshops the painting of the Good Samaritan by G F Watts, a painting which will be on loan to the Cathedral during the Gallery's refurbishment.
