News: CMS World to Rights Workshops

We have just had an action-packed and fun week in the cathedral learning about The Rights of the Child. Read our review of what happened and see the pictures. Also visit the CMS website www.worldtorights.info for more pictures and links for further follow-up work.

2009 is the 50th anniversary of the UN declaration of the Rights of the Child and the 30th anniversary of the UN Year of the Child.

To commemorate this special anniversary, the Church Mission Society's (CMS)  youth and children's team have created a project called World to Rights. This is touring around cathedrals and other venues in the UK, working with thousands of young people to explore the Rights of the Child with drama, music and song.

Guildford Cathedral was the project's first venue and the team of Anita, Mike, Jodie and Dave were with us from Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 January. We welcomed over 500 children from the following schools:

  • Boxgrove Primary School, Guildford
  • Queen Eleanor's C of E Junior School, Guildford
  • St Mary's C of E Primary School, Chiddingfold
  • St Lawrence C of E Junior School, East Molesey
  • Parkmead Primary School, Cranleigh
  • All Saint's Junior School, Fleet
