Appeal

The Guildford Cathedral Appeal provides us with an exciting opportunity to make other improvements to our facilities and to get more people involved with the Cathedral.  As well as removing the acoustic plaster and re-decorating, we plan to:

• improve disabled access
• enhance the welcome, information and exhibition spaces
• refurbish the organ
• install new lighting throughout the building and a new sound system
• make our archive materials more easily available to the public
• undertake an oral-history project  with brick-givers and others involved in the Cathedral’s story
• develop state-of-the-art  visitor materials and interpretation resources for all ages
• recruit and train a new generation of volunteers
• expand the range of cultural and educational activities – including  more schools work for children and Discovery Days for adults
• extend our contribution to community cohesion and the promotion of the common good through public debate, arts and education.

During this period, we won’t undertake our usual fundraising for maintenance so the Appeal will encompass other immediate priority fabric projects.
