TEN:Artists Exhibition - Context

TEN:Artists Exhibition – Context

Tuesday 27 July to Sunday 5 September 2021

We’re delighted to welcome 10 Artists to Guildford Cathedral this summer. The work produced by the group is diverse and includes drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, mixed media and digital art. Members of Ten have work held in public collections at the V&A London, belong to the renowned international textile group ‘Prism’ and have been selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing prize. (formerly The Jerwood Drawing Prize)

This is a free to visit exhibition, and art will be for sale for the duration of this exhibition.

from the artists;

Since our graduation, we have been exhibiting together most years across the southeast and London, most recently at the Lightbox Gallery in Woking in 2018 and have regularly participated in the Surrey Arts Open Studios as a group. Details of all previous exhibitions can be seen on our Facebook page at

In 2015 we held an exhibition at the Cathedral to mark 5 years after graduation.  This exhibition was called ‘Quinquennial’ and each artist created a body of work using the space within the Cathedral and its surroundings as inspiration.

In this year of covid restrictions, the group has been limited to meeting on Zoom so the focus of this exhibition has been a way for each of us to continue our practice.  As the starting point for this exhibition, the group selected the word ‘Context’ and each member has chosen a piece of text, whether it be a poem, lyric, prayer, story, quote etc and created work interpreting that choice. The results reflect the varied approach of the membership and will be available to purchase.

We are delighted to be exhibiting again in the imposing cathedral space. The exhibition runs from Tuesday 27th July until Sunday 5th September
