Join us for the Journey this Advent and December

As we move into advent, there are many services for everyone to look forward to here at Guildford.

Throughout December, we have a high number of special services which may result in changes to our opening hours for visitors, please do check the cathedral diary before you visit.

 

For the Shopper

On Saturday 3 December from 10am – 4pm the Cathedral will be hosting the Etsy Guildford Christmas Market. A seasonal festival of unique gifts handcrafted by local artisans and makers. With 50 stalls you are sure to find beautiful locally made Christmas presents (or treats for yourself!)

For Families

Join us in Seasons café on Sunday 4 December between 3.30pm – 4.30pm for our annual Christingle Service, as we celebrate Jesus, the Light of the World. This informal act of worship will include songs, making a giant Christingle, craft activities, prayer, and refreshments. The Cathedral Christingle is held in support of The Children’s Society.

Journey to Bethlehem

On Saturday 24 December at 4pm, this service is for all ages, with the Cathedral Choristers and Stag Hill Phil, exploring the Christmas story and message.

A Service of Lessons and Carols

Our traditional carol service which tells the story of Jesus’s birth in music and readings takes place on Sunday 18 December, please see the website for further details.

The First Eucharist of Christmas

Marking the beginning of Christmas, this service on Saturday 24 December at 11pm, includes John Taverner’s famous Christmas Proclamation.

The Eucharist of Christmas Day

On Sunday 25 December at 10am, please join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Saviour of the world.

A Service of Lessons and Carols

Our traditional carol service which tells the story of Jesus’s birth in music and readings, takes place on Sunday 25 December at 4pm.

 

Special Services we invite you to be part of

 

Air Ambulance Carol Concert: Kent, Surrey, Sussex

A special fund-raising concert of seasonal carols and readings for the popular charity. Featuring Guildford Cathedral Singers, takes place on Tuesday 13 December at 7.30pm

Age UK Carol Service

On Friday 16 December at 11am, come along to this fabulous service of lessons and carols, with refreshments served from 10.15am. No tickets required.

 

Food and Shopping

If you are attending any of our services, events or just driving past, Seasons Café and Kitchen by the Cathedral, serve the most delicious lunches and refreshments and the Cathedral Gift Shop also sells the most wonderful items, ideal for gifts and cards.

 

Seasons will be closed from Friday 23 December from 3pm and will not re open until Tuesday 3 January 2023.

Free 2-hour on-site parking is also available.
