Guildford Cathedral is facing a significant funding crisis.
Please donate to help keep the cathedral open for everyone.

No, I'd prefer to donate another time

To celebrate our Diamond Anniversary, Guildford Cathedral is holding a competition to design a kneeler. The Cathedral is known as The People’s Cathedral due to all the contributions made from so many people both locally and further afield. As well as buying bricks to ensure the Cathedral building could be completed, many people created designs for our kneelers, meaning that each kneeler has a unique, individual design. There was a brief given for the kneeler creations and we would like to see some new designs to reflect our current life and times.

The kneeler design competition opens on Saturday 18 September at our Heritage Family Fun Day (10.00am – 12.00pm) and closes on Friday 8 October. Entries will be judged by Juliet Dunmur, the grand-daughter of Sir Edward Maufe, who was the architect who designed the Cathedral!

If you’d like to enter, download the template and design brief here then send your entry in before Friday 8 October to Becki Hartley, Guildford Cathedral, Stag Hill, Guildford, GU2 7UP, or post it through the letterbox at the Cathedral Office.

Detailed information about the competition and the Terms and Conditions can be found here.

Prizes include a Roald Dahl Create and Colour Set, a ‘Rainy Day’ Box, glittery pencils, a sticker book, a ’Rockin’ Rabbit’ toy, and a set of books (selected dependent on the age of the winner). We look forward to receiving your entries!
