Things to do

explore our beautiful building

Printed guides and family trails are available from the Guides' Desk.

The Cathedral has a full set of Explorer Bags containing binoculars, a notebook, a magnifying glass, pencils and colouring pencils to help you have a really good look at the Cathedral building and its features. There is also an iSpy booklet for young children which encourages them to search for things and helps them to learn more about the wonderful space.

Our Stanley the Stag hunt encourages children to explore the whole building whilst looking out for the letters our friendly mascot has been hiding. Find all the letters and jiggle them around to work out what the hidden word is! The letter hunt happens at each Family Fun Day and is in place through any school holidays (as long as it would not interfere with the religious observance of a Christian Festival (e.g. Holy Week)).

school holidays

Guildford Cathedral often run events for families during the school holidays including free Family Fun Days and self-led children’s activities:

cathedral tots

On the first Wednesday of each month, the Cathedral opens its doors to our Cathedral Tots group for an informal service for pre-school age children with their parents and carers. Cathedral Tots gathers from 10.00am with a short, informal service including child-friendly songs, a story and a prayer before an opportunity for fellowship over refreshments whilst the children do a craft activity or play with a selection of toys and building blocks. The dates for Cathedral Tots can be found here.

family services

Family Services take place to mark Christian festivals throughout the year. These are open to everyone and we would be delighted to welcome you and your family to attend any of these. Dates are shown here.
