News: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Hark! the herald angels sing

Advent at Guildford cathedral

Guildford Cathedral is delighted to extend a warm welcome to all to take part in our programme of Advent events:

Heavenly Host of Advent Angels

Throughout December an incredible display of hand-crafted heavenly angels will be hosted by Guildford Cathedral. Over 130 stunning angels have been made by church schools from across the Diocese of Guildford. 44 schools have created angels from recycled materials, each standing between 30 and 150cm tall.

Bramley Infant and Nursery School’s fabulous angel will be the stunning focal point at the top of our Christmas tree.

Free family Advent Angel afternoon, Sunday 3 December

To launch our display, families are warmly invited to take part in our free, family afternoon of child-friendly, angel-themed crafts on Sunday 3 December, from 1.30-3.30pm. We encourage everyone to come dressed as an angel and join us for a rousing grand finale of singing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing with the Cathedral choir.

Angel treats will be on offer in Seasons Café throughout Advent and Christmas, and angel gifts will be available in the shop.

Our Advent Carol Service and Procession will take place at 6pm on the evening of 3 December.

3D Advent Calendar

A ‘door’ on our 3D Advent Calendar will be opened each day, which includes a short Bible verse and reflection. Keep an eye each day on our Facebook and Twitter!
