News: Summer Holiday Free Activity Mornings

Wednesday 29 August : Threads through Revelation!

Calling all families!

Join us in the Nave for our special mornings of crafting fun.  Everyone is welcome to our free themed events designed for families to work together to create beautiful things, and discover something about this unique venue. Activities on offer will include a Treasure Hunt and a range of crafts suitable for accompanied children.

About 300 people came along to celebrate the beginning of the school holidays on 25 July when our theme was "Our Wonderful World", with crafts reflecting the story of Creation, as told in the first book of the bible, Genesis.

To mark the end of the school holidays, on Wednesday 29 August, 10am - 12.30pm, our theme is "Revelation" with crafts reflecting the last book of the bible.  This activity day is timed to co-incide with a major textile exhibition "Threads through Revelation" which is on display from 22 August.  We will be making crowns, angels and trumpets, and other lovely things!

Our informal activity days are free to attend, no booking is necessary.  Donations are gratefully received towards the costs of putting on these events, please place donations in the boxes provided to enable us to avoid introducing charges in the future!

Our next Wonderful Wednesday is during the autumn half term, Wednesday 24 October, 10am - 12.30pm.

Guildford Cathedral is open throughout the school holidays, pick up one of our free Summer Animal Trails, try the outside discovery trails or one of our age specific Explorer Packs, complete with tape measures and binoculars to help young explorers to discover the full beauty of this spectacular 20th century building.  The shop, cafe and grounds, with splendid views over the town and Surrey Hills are a perfect venue for a picnic.
