News: Coffee Concert 25 July

Join us for our next Coffee Concert on Thursday 25 July, coffee served from 10.30 am with the concert starting at 11.15 am and finishing at approximately 12.00 noon.

"Fjords and Fiddles"

Fumi Otsuki is a violinist born in Sendai, Japan, where he studied the violin with Gerhard Bosse and Masayoshi Kumai, and Shizuko Ishii in Tokyo. After he moved to the U.K. he studied the violin with Jill Thoday, piano with Antonietta Notariello and composition with Nigel Clarke at the Royal Academy of Music, and then violin with Kun Hu and piano with Raymond Banning at the Trinity College of Music in London. He also took masterclasses in Dartington and Couchevel/ private violin lessons with Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Tomotada Soh, Sigrun Edvaldsdottir, Andrea Jacobs-Gajic and Winifred Roberts.

He has given many concerts at churches and cathedrals in England and South Wales, including the Southwark Cathedral and St.Bride's in London, St.Peter's in St.Albans, Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon, Guildford Cathedral, Leicester Cathedral, Portsmouth Cathedral and Newport Cathedral. He has worked with a number of wonderful piano accompanists, such as Alessandro Viale, Georgios Vardakis, Jonathan Lilley and Sarah Kershaw. 

He will be performing with pianist Gina Kruger, who holds degrees in piano from the United States and a postgraduate diploma from the Royal College of Music, London. She won the Fossat Award for Chamber Music during her studies at RCM with John Blakely and Julian Jacobson, resulting in a performance for the Queen of Denmark and a residency in the south of France. She appears locally as a performer in London and Oxford, and also on the continent and in New York City.  Her recital featuring works of Spanish composers in June 2010 at the National Concert Hall, Dublin was deemed a ‘finely turned performance’ by the Irish Times.
