His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh

10 June 1921 — 9 April 2021

The Dean and the Chapter and the entire cathedral community extend our deepest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and her family following the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. We assure her of our prayers for her and her family in their time of grief and our prayers of thanksgiving for the long life of service Prince Philip gave to our nation and to the Commonwealth. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

An online Book of Condolence has been set up at Guildford Cathedral for any members of the community who would like to add their name in thanksgiving for the life of Prince Philip and the lasting contribution he has made to the life of our nation and the Commonwealth.

Pilgrimage to Oberammergau 5-12 September 2020

The Guildford Cathedral Community Committee has arranged a pilgrimage to Oberammergau in September 2020 for the Friends and Community of Guildford Cathedral.

We will fly to Frankfurt and then meander down the Romantic route by coach visiting Wurzburg, Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber, Augsburg, Wieskirche and Fussen, before arriving at Oberammergau to see the Passion play. We will return by plane from Munich.

The cost is £1,439, with a deposit of £250 securing your place.

Further details can be found in the brochure. If you have any questions about any aspect of this trip please contact Linda Sharpin linda@sharpin.com

We are using PAX Travel Ltd, whom The Friends used for our past two trips to Oberammergau.

40 Tickets to see the play have been secured, so this is expected to be the maximum size of our party. Whilst we appreciate that September 2020 may seem a long way off, and the pilgrimage is being underwritten by PAX, it would be most helpful in ensuring that it remains exclusive to Guildford Cathedral if you could send your booking form to PAX Travel Ltd before 1 June 2019.
