Come and support your local Cathedral

Guildford Cathedral is a place for everyone, offering a diverse range of activities throughout the year.  At the very heart of Cathedral life are an amazing group of over 425 volunteers.  We are very thankful to our existing volunteers who undertake a wide variety of roles - it is their dedication, enthusiasm and energy which helps to make Guildford Cathedral a vibrant place of friendly welcome, worship and inspiration.

People volunteer for many reasons – to meet new people, to learn new skills, to share their knowledge and expertise, improve employment prospects, to serve their Cathedral and "give something back" or because of a deep appreciation of the building and what it represents.  Each person makes a unique contribution and often get a lot of enjoyment and fun through being involved.

Here is what some of our volunteers have to say about their experiences.

”I enjoy the social contact and it gives me a sense of purpose…..”

”Volunteering here is rewarding, enriching and sociable…”

”I find you get back more than you put in…”

”It is great to be part of the Cathedral family….”

“It gave me the confidence to return to the workplace after a lengthy break”

We welcome new volunteers from all kinds of backgrounds, age groups, all faiths or none.  Guildford Cathedral provides a friendly, supportive environment in which volunteers are invited to contribute their skills and to grow in confidence and competence.

Our volunteers help with visitors and behind the scenes, in teams or independently, give time regularly or occasionally.  It is entirely up to you. If you have the time and interest, we will be able to find a role for you.

Volunteering opportunities are wide ranging including:
