Charity Abseil at Guildford Cathedral

Every year charities raise significant funds by taking on an unforgettable challenge at Guildford Cathedral. Abseiling from the Cathedral tower offers a unique and exciting way to engage supporters while generating substantial income for your cause.

Working with our experienced abseil partner, Charity Abseil Events (Hatt Adventures), and the Guildford Cathedral events team, we can help you plan a fun, adventurous and highly successful fundraising event.

Participants climb the tower’s spiral staircase, enjoy panoramic views across Guildford, and then descend from an impressive height, all in support of your charity. It is a memorable experience that attracts participants, sponsors and supporters alike.

Many charities achieve excellent fundraising results, with typical totals between £27,000 and £30,000 or more.

Events are hosted on selected Saturdays during the spring and early summer season.

How It Works

Your charity books an exclusive event day, recruits participants and manages sponsorship fundraising while we coordinate the venue and technical delivery with our partners.

Between 40 and 50 participants can usually take part across the day, supported by professional instructors and your volunteer team.

Costs

There are two separate fees to pay when booking a charity abseil at Guildford Cathedral. One fee is paid to Hatt Adventures to deliver the abseil experience and secure your booking date. The second fee is paid to Guildford Cathedral after the event to cover use of the site and facilities.

Once your booking has been confirmed with Hatt Adventures, all operational enquiries relating to the abseil will be managed directly by their team.

Fee to Hatt Adventures

  • One rope from £2,650 + VAT per event

  • Two ropes from £4,450 + VAT per event

This fee is payable to Hatt Adventures to secure your event date.

Fee to Guildford Cathedral

  • From £2,950 (VAT exempt)

This facility fee is payable to Guildford Cathedral after the event.

Despite these costs, charities regularly achieve strong returns, with many raising £27,000 to £30,000 or more from participant sponsorship.
