Welcome to Advent at Guildford Cathedral
As we enter the season of Advent, we begin our journey towards the great mystery of Christmas – God coming among us in the vulnerability of a child. These weeks of preparation invite us to slow down, to watch and wait, and to make ready our hearts for the coming of Christ.
Here at the Cathedral, we're offering several opportunities to enrich your Advent journey. Our Advent Theological Reflections explore the deeper meanings of this season, while Steve Summers' Advent and Art talks reveal how artists across the centuries have captured the themes of waiting, hope, and divine light breaking into darkness.
Families especially may want to join us for our Journey to Bethlehem service on Christmas Eve at 4pm – a wonderful way for children to experience the Christmas story, and they're very welcome to come dressed as shepherds or angels.
Whether you're a regular worshipper or visiting us for the first time, we hope you'll find space here for reflection, inspiration, and encounter with the God who comes to meet us.
With every blessing this Advent,
The Very Revd Bob Cooper
Dean of Guildford
