School Visits to Knife Angel

Knife Angel school visits

There is some availability for schools to visit the Knife Angel and lead their own sessions to engage with the messages the sculpture aims to promote; session ideas are included with the School Resource Pack to support teachers in ideas for learning opportunities and activity suggestions. This allows teachers to tailor topics using the knowledge of their cohort, with particular acknowledgement of any potential triggers or trauma response that the subject matter may cause.

During the month of March, there is a great deal of activity at Guildford Cathedral linked to the Knife Angel sculpture alongside our usual programme of services, school activities, and events. This means that it is vital schools contact us to find out when would be a suitable time to bring a group of students to visit the Knife Angel. Please get in touch with Becki Hartley, Head of Family Engagement and Schools using schools@guildford-cathedral.org or 01483 547880 to discuss date and time options.

The School Resource Pack is available here as a download. This enables schools who have scheduled a visit to request that an activity is laid out for them during their visit, though these will need to led by schools themselves. The School Resource Pack also gives schools who are unable to visit the option to engage with the themes of the Knife Angel through some of the suggested activities.

Guildford Cathedral runs a comprehensive programme of school visits throughout the academic year. If you would like to explore scheduling a visit for your pupils outside of the Knife Angel, please do contact Becki Hartley via email at schools@guildford-cathedral.org. We would be delighted to welcome you.
