News: Guildford Cathedral to be used in filming project

Whilst Guildford Cathedral is closed to the public because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cathedral is being used as a location for some filming work taking place.

Work on site continues until 8 February. For those who enjoy looking at the Cathedral from across Surrey there will be external lighting on the south side overnight on the 2nd and 3rd of February. The professional company doing the filming have strict safety protocols in place and there will be increased security on site.

The Cathedral has been used in the past as a filming location, most recently last year for Michael Portillo’s Great Railway Journeys, which is due to be broadcast on television this spring.

Dianna Gwilliams, Dean of Guildford, said “We’re delighted to welcome this filming project to the Cathedral. We look forward to opening the Cathedral to visitors and will do so as soon as we deem it safe. The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our top priority. Worship continues and many services are broadcast live.”
