Katherine Dienes-Williams appointed Director of Music at Winchester Cathedral

Guildford Cathedral announced today that Katherine Dienes-Williams, our Organist and Master of the Choristers, has been appointed Director of Music at Winchester Cathedral.

Katherine is an outstanding musician who has served Guildford Cathedral with exceptional dedication and artistry. During her time here, she has inspired generations of choristers, nurturing young singers with warmth, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to musical excellence. Her leadership has enriched our worship and brought joy to countless congregations and concert audiences.

The Dean of Guildford, the Very Reverend Bob Cooper, said: "We offer Katherine our warmest congratulations on this wonderful appointment. Winchester is gaining a truly gifted musician and an inspiring leader. Whilst she will be deeply missed by all of us at Guildford, we send her with our heartfelt thanks for everything she has given to this cathedral community and our prayers for this exciting new chapter in her ministry."

Katherine's tenure at Guildford Cathedral has been marked by musical programmes of the highest calibre, from the daily round of choral services to memorable concerts and recordings. She has been a cherished colleague and mentor, and her warmth and generosity of spirit have touched everyone who has had the privilege of working alongside her.

We wish Katherine every blessing as she takes up her new role at Winchester Cathedral in September 2026.
