Do you love the rhythm and richness of Cathedral worship? Could you play a key part in our services?

We’re looking for new Altar Servers – volunteers who feel called to assist in the beauty and dignity of our liturgies. From carrying processional crosses and torches to swinging the thurible when incense rises in worship, servers help shape the sacred space of the Sung Eucharist.

You are welcome to submit a Curriculum Vitae, although all volunteers will be required to complete an application form and provide two references before commencing their role.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and the completion of safeguarding training, where applicable.

There will be an initial trial period to ensure that the role is a good fit for both you and the Cathedral. As part of your induction, you will receive all the information, training and support needed to help you settle into the role and thrive as a volunteer at Guildford Cathedral.
