- Service for Surrey Joint Services' Charities
Guildford Cathedral
We are pleased to support the work of Surrey Joint Services’ Charities and to recognise the vital contribution of the Armed Forces to the life of our nation, the Commonwealth and beyond.
Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday each June and the week of celebrations begins when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country. At Guildford Cathedral we are proud to fly the flag that will be raised at the conclusion of this service. The UK Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests. They are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism. The military community includes Regulars, Reservists, Ex-Service, Veterans, their families and Cadets.
The Cadet Forces (Combined Cadet Force Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Air Cadets and the RAF Air Cadets) currently support over 130,000 young people in more than 3,000 locations across the UK. Cadets learn life and career building skills as well as gaining vocational qualifications. Our Armed Forces couldn’t do their job without the incredible support of their families and friends. The Surrey Joint Services’ Charities provide valuable assistance to all members of the Armed Forces (serving and ex-service) and their families in Surrey.
Guildford Cathedral is home to the Chapel of the Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment, and we would encourage you to visit the Chapel.
